The basics of Xtrac treatment
Patients with mild to moderate forms of psoriasis, vitiligo, and certain types of eczema can enjoy long lasting relief with Xtrac laser therapy. How Xtrac works
Xtrac is the first FDA-approved excimer laser treatment for psoriasis, vitiligo, and atopic dermatitis (eczema). It is an excellent option for patients who have not seen results from creams, medications, and lifestyle, or dietary changes.The treatment itself does not hurt, however patients will feel a warm sensation during the session. Mineral oil is applied to the skin prior to beginning treatment so the laser can more effectively penetrate active lesions. During the treatment, we will place the handheld applicator on the skin and move it across the treatment area. The small head of the laser delivers UVB rays to the affected skin only. In the 12-24 hours following treatment, the skin may appear sunburned along with an itching or burning sensation. These symptoms are normal and shouldn’t be too uncomfortable.
