Intense pulsed light photo facials available

Photo rejuvenation treatment, Illinois Photo rejuvenation is a gentle method of transforming sun spots, freckles, rosacea, facial veins, fine lines, and wrinkles into a radiant complexion. Dr. Khanna provides non-invasive, non-ablative intense pulsed light photo facials to patients in Algonquin and surrounding areas.

The science of IPL

IPL delivers pulses of light energy utilizing a broad spectrum of wavelengths, with filters to refine the output. This allows lower skin layers to be treated without disruption at the surface. Use of high energy light waves in this manner resolves skin discoloration by constricting blood vessels below the epidermis. It also stimulates production of collagen, a fibrous protein that firms skin and smooths wrinkles.

The procedure

Intense pulsed light photo facials treatment, Illinois Treatment sessions take only about 20 minutes. Your skin is cleansed and a cool gel is applied at the treatment area. You are provided with protective eyewear. The clinician directs controlled pulses of light into deep skin layers, using a mobile hand piece. You feel a sensation of warmth and a slight sting, comparable to being snapped with a rubber band. When treatment is completed, cool compresses may be applied if you have very sensitive skin, but IPL generally causes very little discomfort.
After IPL:
  • There is no downtime. You may return to work or usual activities right away.
  • Avoid sun exposure for a week and use sunscreen for at least two weeks.

Results

You begin to notice smoother skin tone and texture within a few days, and dark spots fade in about a week. Treatment is customized; usually one to three sessions spaced three to six weeks apart is ideal. Results are more noticeable with each treatment, and continue in the weeks following your care plan. Your refreshed, even complexion will last a year or longer with good sun protection.
