Juvéderm Voluma: Just one of the injectable fillers offered in Algonquin

Soft tissue fillers are a safe, fast way to restore youthful facial volume, without the permanency or risks associated with surgery. Juvéderm Voluma is one of the newest injectable fillers available in the Algonquin area, manufactured by Allergan, a trusted name in pharmaceuticals.

Injectable filler basics

As we age, our faces lose volume in the form of fat, hydration, muscle, and bone. Simultaneously, the body produces less collagen and elastin, fibrous proteins necessary for thick, taut skin thick. This combination allows skin to sag, hollows to form, and angles of the face to become sharper.

Injectable fillers are gel formulations in varying thicknesses. They are placed beneath the skin to smooth fine lines, fill wrinkles, and add volume. Fillers such as Juvéderm contain an ingredient called hyaluronic acid. HA is a liquid carbohydrate that the body produces naturally, to lubricate joints, and for the humors of the eyes. HA has the unique ability to retain many times its own weight in water, supplementing the volume added by the filler itself.

Juvéderm Voluma

Voluma is approved by the FDA for the correction of age-related volume loss in the cheek area. It is placed into deep tissue layers where it brings lift to the apples of the cheeks, supporting overlying skin and smoothing sags on the lower third of the face. Dr. Khanna is also experienced in the skillful off-label use of Voluma at the chin to define the jawline, and to fill hollows at the temples.

There is no downtime following a treatment. Results are immediate, and Voluma lasts up to two years.
